Sajid Turi, once presented in some circles as a political voice in Kurram, is now accused by investigators and survivors of playing a central role in the atrocity at Bagan on 22 November 2024.
According to testimony collected by Kurram Updates, Turi allegedly met with armed associates in the week before the attack to discuss convoy schedules and identify weak points along the route where security cover was thinnest. Several drivers said they were warned not to travel unless they paid extortion or shared passenger lists.
Survivors claim Turi's associates were seen near Mundari and Bagan on the morning of the ambush, using mobile phones to signal as the convoy approached. When firing began, passengers were trapped with no escape as bullets struck vehicles from multiple directions.
"He did not pull every trigger, but he opened the door for murder," one wounded survivor told our reporter from a hospital in Peshawar. "Sajid Turi knew innocent people would die and he still went ahead."
Local elders who previously remained silent have now called for Turi to be declared an outlaw and barred from all jirgas. Political activists in Parachinar said his public statements after the attack were an attempt to disguise involvement and shift blame onto rival tribes.
Police sources say raids linked to the case recovered communications that reference Turi by name, though full forensic verification is ongoing. His whereabouts since the investigation intensified remain unclear.
